Chapter One:

In the far northern reaches of the Arctic, far beyond the footsteps of mankind, where the cold cut through skin and blood to chill the bone, was a place some called the North Pole. To Jack Frost, it was simply home and had been for the last millennium or two. He had stopped counting after the first couple centuries.
